Abstract
These Regulations, made under the Marine Resources Act, 2005, declare large pelagic longline fishery to be a Designated Fishery in terms of section 6 of the Act. The Longline Fishery Plan approved by the Secretary in accordance with section 6 of the Act as attached in the Schedule to these Regulations shall apply to the longline fishery. The Plan establishes rules for longline fishing, i.e. fishing using equipment that comprises a mainline, branchlines and hooks. It introduces management and conservation measures and licensing requirements and specifies the process for the allocation of any fishing rights provided for in the fishery plan.
