Abstract
The National Implementation Plan for the Stockholm Convention is a national policy with a cross-sectoral approach. The purpose of this Policy is to implement the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants in order to protect human health and the environment rom persistent organic pollutants. The National Implementation Plan consists of the following specific strategies and action plans each targeting aspects of the Convention requirements, including the intentional production and use of persistent organic pollutants pesticides; specific requirements for polychlorinated biphenyls, measures to minimize and ultimately eliminate the production of unintentional persistent organic pollutants; measures to reduce or eliminate releases from stockpiles, wastes and contaminated sites; public information, awareness and education; research, development and monitoring; and information exchange and reporting.
