Abstract
This Act provides for the establishment of Tribunals and defines proceedings and procedures before such Tribunals in relation to so-called small claims, i.e. claims relative to contracts or established rights not exceeding a specified amount. The Act further provides for enforcement of decisions and appeals against decisions of a Tribunal established under this Act.
The primary function of a Tribunal is to attempt to bring the parties to a dispute to an agreed settlement. A Tribunal shall have no jurisdiction in respect of any claim: (a) for the recovery of land or any estate or interest therein; (b) regarding the title to any land, or any estate or interest therein, or to any franchise in question; and (c) if there is a dispute concerning the entitlement of any person under a will, or settlement, or on any intestacy.
