Administrative Measures for Inspection and Quarantine of Live Swine for Supplying to Hong Kong and Macao.

Type of law

The aim of these Measures is to ensure the inspection and quarantine of live pigs for supplying to Hong Kong and Macao, prevent the spread of infectious diseases and parasitic diseases, and ensure the hygiene and food safety of live pigs for Hong Kong and Macao. The Measures consist of 41 articles divided into 4 Chapters: General matters; Registration; Supervision and administration; Inspection and quarantine; Supplementary provisions. The enterprises in mainland China which are engaged in the production, transportation and storage of live pigs for supplying to Hong Kong and Macao shall abide by these Measures.
The feedlots for live pigs for Hong Kong and Macao shall apply to the local inspection and quarantine agency for inspection and quarantine registration. The inspection and quarantine agencies shall carry out epidemic surveillance and residue monitoring system for registered farms. Registered farms shall not use or store drugs and animal growth promoters prohibited by the state. The Text further provides the procedures for inspection and quarantine, the rules of keeping live pigs and the regulations of transporting.
