Abstract
These Waterborne Wildlife and Their Products Value Assessment Measures (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Order No. 5 of 2019) provides a framework for assessing the value of protected aquatic wildlife and their products. The Measures apply to species protected under the Wildlife Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and species listed in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).
The value of adult aquatic wildlife is determined by multiplying the base value of the species by its protection level coefficient. Artificially bred protected species and their products are valued at a fraction of their wild counterparts, using a source coefficient. The value can be adjusted based on actual market prices if the latter is higher than the evaluated value.
