Abstract
This China Food and Nutrition Development Outline (2025-2030) is issued jointly by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the National Health Commission, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. China's agricultural comprehensive production capacity has been steadily improved, the food consumption structure has been continuously optimized, and the nutrition and health of the people have been significantly improved. However, there are still problems such as insufficient supply and consumption of high-quality food, the lack of reasonable dietary habits among residents, and the coexistence of excess and deficiency of nutrition, which need to attract the attention of the whole society. In order to promote the coordinated development of food and nutrition and support the construction of a healthy China, this Qutline is formulated.
The Outline seeks to enhance food quality and nutrition, create a sustainable food system that balances ecological protection with food production, ensuring a diverse and nutritious diet for all citizens by 2030. The Outline emphasizes increasing the supply and consumption of high-quality protein foods such as meat, eggs, dairy, and soy products, and promoting foods rich in dietary fiber like whole grains, vegetables, and fruits. It advocates for the development of nutrition-oriented agriculture, innovative food processing technologies, and personalized nutrition solutions. The Plan includes specific targets for daily nutrient intake, such as reducing salt and sugar consumption and increasing dietary fiber. It also focuses on improving food safety standards, enhancing public awareness of healthy eating habits, and integrating nutrition education into schools and communities. The Plan also require to strengthen nutrition improvement for residents in rural and remote areas, strengthen nutrition supply for special groups such as pregnant women, children, and the elderly, and build a comprehensive, innovative, and precise food science and technology system, policy support system, and food and nutrition health monitoring system.
