Interim regulation for acceptable levels of residual radionuclides in soil of site considered for release.

This Interim Regulation gives acceptable levels of residual radioactivity in the soil. It applies to the release of nuclear facilities' decommissioning sites; release of of other sites engaged in activities that lead to increased levels of natural radioactivity can be applied by reference.
When a nuclear facility is decommissioned, in addition to the pollution levels of all remaining buildings and equipment, the remaining radioactive levels in the soil must also be reviewed by the regulatory authority to confirm that the requirements of this Regulation have been met before the site can be released for the use of the public.
