Measures for the Validation of Key Crop Varieties (2016).

For the purpose of examining and approving main crop varieties in scientific, fair and timely manners, these Measures are formulated in accordance with the Seed Law of the People's Republic of China. The Measures consist of 58 articles divided into 9 Chapters: General Provisions (I); Variety Approval Committee (II); Application and Acceptance (III); Variety Trials (IV); Approval and Announcement(V); Archival Filing of Plant Introduction (VI); Variety Withdraw from the Variety Registration Committee (VII); Supervision and Administration (VIII); Supplementary Provisions (IX).
For the purpose of the Measures, the term "main crops" refers to rice, wheat, corn, cotton, and soybean (art.3). The National Crop Variety Approval Committee, set under the Ministry of Agriculture, is responsible for the state-level examination and approval of crop varieties. The Measures further set out procedures and requirements to be satisfied for application, examination and approval of main crop varieties.
