Abstract
This National Food Safety Standard - General Rules for Nutrition Labelling of Prepackaged Foods (GB 28050—2025) is issued by China's National Health Commission and State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the Food Safety Law. It is a mandatory standard. It supersedes the National Food Safety Standard - General Rules for Labelling of Prepackaged Foods (GB 28050—2011).
The Standard mandates clear labeling of energy, protein, fat, saturated fat, carbohydrates, sugars, and sodium content, along with their percentage of the Nutrient Reference Value (NRV). It introduces new requirements for trans fats, additional nutrients, and a warning about excessive intake of salt, oil, and sugar. It also updates definitions, permissible errors, and exemptions, ensuring accurate and comprehensive nutritional information for consumers.
