Abstract
Protocol was reached between the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of India (IMOA)for the purpose of preventing the introduction of harmful organisms and protecting the health of animals and plants, according to the results of pest risk analysis and the principles of the World Trade Organization Agreement on the Implementation of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS Agreement).
Bitter Gourds exported from India to China must comply with Chinese phytosanitary quarantine laws and regulations (art.1). The production of bitter gourds must comply with the requirements of the Indian official Momordica charantia certificate system and it must not carry the quarantine pest listed in Article 2 of the MoA. The IMOA must comply with the relevant requirements of the IPPC organization and provide AQSIQ with the Indian momordica charantia regulations and official documents for AQSIQ's confirmation (art.3). The Protocol further provide for the requirements for the packing, storage and transportation of Bitter Gourds exported from India to China.
