Protocol of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China and the Department of Energy of the United States on the Sino-US Joint Research Center for Clean Energy.

The two sides agreed to set up a Sino-US clean energy joint research center to promote joint research and development in the field of clean energy, and as the information transfer station to help both domestic researchers’ cooperation. The priority research areas include: building energy saving, the use of cleaner coal (including carbon capture and storage technology), clean car technology, etc.
