Abstract
Citrus reticulata and Citrus sinensis are the citrus species exported to China by Pakistan (art. 1). The export citrus packing plants, storage and cold treatment facilities must be registered with the Pakistani side and jointly designated by China and Pakistan. The exporters should be registered with the Pakistani Ministry of Commerce (art. 2). The citrus to be exported must come from the pest free area of Bactrocera zonata. The establishment and accreditation requirements and procedures for pest free areas need to be assessed and approved by the Chinese side (art. 3). Under the guidance of the Pakistani side, the fruit farms that exporting citrus should take effective measures for monitoring, prevention, and comprehensive pest management to avoid and control the occurrence of quarantine pests (as specified in Annex 1) and their mediators that are of concern to the Chinese (art. 4). The Protocol further provides for the requirements for packaging, storage, cold treatment and shipment of Citrus.
