Regulations of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture on water resources protection and management.

These regulations, are enacted in accordance with the Water Law and the Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law, aiming to strengthen the protection and management of water resources, make rational use of water resources, prevent and control water pollution and promote the sustainable development of economy, society and ecological environment in the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture. The Text consists of 31 Articles divided into 6 Chapters: General Provisions (I); Water Resource Protection (II); Water Resource Utilization (III); Water Resource Management (IV); Liabilities (V); Supplementary Provisions (VI).
People's governments at all levels shall strengthen water resources protection, prevent and control water pollution and soil erosion, and improve the ecological environment (art.9). Water administrative departments at or above the county level shall organize the development of water resources planning in their administrative regions (art.10). The use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers shall be restricted in drinking water source protection areas to prevent pollution of water sources and ensure the safety of drinking water (art.19).
