Regulations of Hubei Province on Water Environmental Protection of the Han River Basin.

These Regulations are enacted to protect and improve the water environment of the Han River Basin, prevent water pollution, ensure drinking water safety and public health, promote green development and high-quality development, and promote the construction of ecological civilization The Regulations consist of 8 Chapters: General Provisions; Plans and Standards; Water Pollution Prevention and Control; Water Ecological Restoration; Guarantees, Supervision and Administration; Information Disclosure and Public Participation; Legal Liabilities; Supplementary Provisions.
The system of river (lake) chief shall be applied in Hanjiang River Basin. River (Lake) chieves at all levels are responsible for organizing, leading and coordinating the work of water resources protection, water area shoreline management, water pollution prevention and control, water environment control, and water ecological restoration of rivers and lakes in their respective administrative areas. The provincial people's government has established a joint conference system for water environment protection in the Hanjiang River basin to coordinate and solve major issues such as water pollution prevention and control planning, land and space use control, natural resource asset management, water resource scheduling and allocation, and ecological protection compensation. Cities and towns with single source of water supply shall, in accordance with the provisions of the state and the province, construct reserve water sources or emergency water sources, and delimit protection zones according to law. People's governments at all levels in the Hanjiang River Basin should strengthen the protection of rural drinking water sources, do a good job in water source selection, water quality testing and health protection, so as to ensure the safety of rural drinking water.
