Regulations of the People's Republic of China Governing Survey of Ships and Offshore Installations.

These Regulations are enacted to ensure that ships, offshore installations and sea-borne cargo containers shall meet the technical requirements for safe navigation and operation, to safeguard the safety of human life and property and to prevent the pollution of marine environment. The Regulations consist of 7 Chapters: General Provisions; Survey of Ships; Survey of Offshore Installations; Survey of Containers; Survey Administration; Penalties; Supplementary Provisions.
These Regulations shall apply to: 　　 (1) ships registered or to be registered in the People's Republic of China; (2) foreign flag ships applying for survey according to these regulations or other relevant provisions issued by the State; (3) offshore installations located or to be located in coastal waters of the People's Republic of China ; and (4) sea - borne cargo containers owned by an enterprise as legal person registered in the Peoples Republic of China. Important equipment, parts and materials used by Chinese flag ships for safety of navigation at sea and for the prevention of pollution of marine environment shall be subject to surveys by the ship - survey organizations in accordance with the relevant provisions.
