State Forestry and Grassland Administration Announcement 2023 No. 17 on the Publication of the List of Terrestrial Wildlife Under State Protection that are Beneficial or of Important Economic and Scientific Research Value.

This Announvement promulgats a list of terrestrial wild animals that are under state protection due to their ecological, economic, and scientific importance. The list is formulated by the the State Forestry and Grassland Administration in accordance with the Wild Life Protection Law.
The List includes animal species that play important roles in maintaining ecosystem balance or providing ecological services that benefit agriculture, forestry, or other sectors, those species that have potential or current uses in agriculture, traditional medicine, or other economic sectors, or species with research significance, including those that could contribute to advancements in biology, environmental monitoring, or conservation science.
The listed species receive state-level protection, which includes legal restrictions on hunting, capturing, trading, or using these animals without proper authorization.
According to the Announvement, artificial breeding of terrestrial wild animals with important ecological, scientific and social value shall be subject to timely registration procedures in accordance with the law.
