Decree-Law No. 26/2024 amending Decree-Law No. 33/2020 creating the irrigation Company "Água de Rega (ADR), S.A.".

This Decree-Law establishes the first amendment to Decree-Law no. 33/2020, of 23 March, which creates the public irrigation company Água de Rega (AdR), as well as its Statutes. Amendments deal with administrative and legal proceedings due to the extinction of SONERF, EPE, it is important to reinforce AdR with additional capacities to carry out other activities, namely: (i) groundwater prospecting; (ii) execution of boreholes or deep wells; (iii) installation of pumping systems using renewable energies; and (iv) execution of hydro-agricultural and torrential correction projects. The purpose of AdR is to provide services for the management and operation of irrigation water systems, the design and construction of infrastructures, equipment and public hydraulic and hydrogeological works for the production and distribution of water necessary for their full implementation, granted on a public service basis, including the carrying out of surveys, prospecting and the realisation of equipment for groundwater, surface water and treated and treated wastewater for irrigation, subject to a licence issued by the competent authority.
