Abstract
This Decree-Law makes the first amendment to Decree-Law No. 59/2021 of 29 September, on the structure, organization and functioning of the Ministry of the Sea. Amendments deal with the new mission of the Ministry, which aims to: design, propose, coordinate, implement and evaluate government public policies in the fields of maritime policy, the blue economy, the maritime industry, marine resources, fisheries, aquaculture and ports. In addition, it creates the Maritime Ports and Oceans Sustainability Service (SMPSO) as the responsible service for coordinating and facilitating all the services provided to ships, agencies and shipping companies, in accordance with the best economic, social and environmental sustainability practices of maritime ecology.
