Decree-Law No. 59/2020 approving new Statutes of the Environment Fund, extinguishing the Water and Sanitation Fund and, furthermore, amending Legislative Decree No. 14/97 of 1 July

This Decree-Law, consisting of 38 articles divided into seven Chapters, amends Legislative Decree No. 14/97 on specific situations provided for the Basic Legislation on the Environmental Policy and establishes the fundamental principles aimed at managing and protecting the environment against all forms of degradation, by enhancing natural resources, fighting pollution of different nature and origin and improving the living conditions of populations with respect for the balance of the environment. It also extinguishes the Water and Sanitation Fund; and approve the new Statutes of the Environment Fund, under the General Legal Regime of Public Institutes, approved by Law No. 92/VIII/2015 of 13 July and of Legislative Decree No. 14/97 of 1 July.
