Abstract
This Decree-Law, composed of 14 articles and two Annexes, defines technical characteristics of refined sugar used for human consumption and regulates its import, commercialization, processing, analysis, labelling and quality control. The Decree provides a classification of sugar typologies used for human consumption and related technical characteristics. In particular, the Decree recalls the food hygiene requirements of Codex Alimentarius and forbids the commercialization of sugar containing additives. Moreover, it provides analysis methods, quality control as well as processing and labelling requirements. Finally, it defines sanctions for non-compliance and the bodies in charge for inspection and control.
