Decree No. 12/2022 approving the Agreement on Merchant Marine sector between the Government of the Republic of Cape Verde and the Government of Morocco.

This Decree approves the Agreement on Merchant Marine sector between the Government of the Republic of Cape Verde and the Government of Morocco. The purpose of this Agreement is to regulate navigation between Moroccan and Cape-Verde ports. Vessels of one Contracting Party shall be entitled to engage in passenger and cargo services between the ports of the two Contracting Parties. The Contracting Parties shall cooperate with a view to eliminating all obstacles that may impede navigation between the ports of the countries and to take the necessary measures in order to promote the traffic and the organization of adequate service to cover the interest of the foreign trade of each country. Each Contracting Party shall encourage its shipowners to take necessary measures to organize the carriage of goods and passengers so as to ensure that the best exploitation of the traffic for the mutual benefit of shipowners and shippers of the Contracting Parties. This agreement shall not apply to cabotage as well as salvage, towage and piloting services, which are reserved to their respective national shipping companies or other enterprises and nationals of the Contracting Parties. This Agreement was signed in Rabat, on July, 22 2008, whose texts in Portuguese and English are published in annex to this Decree.
