Abstract
The preparation of the São Nicolau Island Coastal and Adjacent Sea Management Plan is a fundamental strategic action, in line with the objectives of the Cape Verde Government's Program to promote the sustainable and inclusive development of its islands. This plan aims to establish clear and integrated guidelines for the use and occupation of coastal and maritime space, in order to guarantee environmental preservation, the safety of populations and the promotion of sustainable economic activities, such as tourism and the blue economy. The purpose of planning the coastline and adjacent sea is to regulate the criteria for occupying and implementing infrastructure, safeguarding and protecting territorial, environmental and heritage resources and values, and guiding the use of identified marine resources.
