Abstract
This Resolution approves emergency and urgently-implemented measures, as well as the corresponding funding, aimed at increasing the production of drinking water, improving the efficiency of its distribution and the functioning of sewage networks, as well as reducing the risk of breakdowns in the systems, in the municipalities of São Vicente and Sal. Despite the scarcity of fresh water sources, which is due to the geomorphological and climatic characteristics of the islands, Cape Verde has made a very positive progress in mobilizing and distributing water to the population and economic activities, thanks to the leadership of the authorities and the strong commitment of the population and cooperation partners. These measures consist specifically of: a) Reinforcing the general maintenance of desalination plants; b) Increased mechanical maintenance of desalination plants; and c) Increased electrical maintenance of desalination plants.
