Abstract
This Resolution creates the National Committee for Agriculture Pests and Diseases Management (CNGPDA). CNGPDA is a consultative body for articulating, monitoring and executing decisions on sustainable management of crop enemies, as well as supervising the implementation of phytosanitary strategies and measures. CNGPDA is entitled to: a) Improve agricultural production by monitoring, advising and following up on the implementation of sustainable management actions for the main crop enemies; b) Improve the quality of fruit and vegetable products, ensuring compliance with health standards during production, packaging and marketing, supervising their compliance, in particular, by small producers; c) Contribute to training producers for integrated control of the main crop enemies; d) Contribute to the awareness of interested parties, authorities and the general public to the phytosanitary problems found in agricultural plots; e) Promote the marketing of agricultural products between the islands, mainly for tourist markets and, eventually, export; f) Act as an advisory body for the technical services of public and private entities involved in the implementation of agricultural production development programmes and projects; and g) Contribute to the search for partnerships and technical and financial support for integrated management programmes for the various crop enemies. The CNGPDA is also set up as a working group on corn fall armyworm, fruit flies and other emerging pests.
