Resolution No. 172/2020 approving the Policy Charter for the Blue Economy in Cape Verde.

This Resolution approves the Policy Charter for the Blue Economy in Cape Verde. This Charter has the following strategic objectives: a) Sustainable and inclusive economic growth; b) Reduction of regional asymmetries; c) Combating unemployment, especially for youth generation; d) Use of demographic parameters; e) Research and technology; f) Investment in education of excellence; g) Strengthening security. Cape Verde defined, in the various strategic instruments and in the governance programmes, its vision of development. The strategy is based on key economic sectors for the Blue Economy, such as: Fisheries and aquaculture; Trade, and food security; Marine and coastal environment; Oceans, climate change and pollution, fight against plastics in the seas; Tourism and aquatic ecotourism; Maritime transport and port development; Maritime Spatial Planning and Enhancement of Coastal Areas and Bays; Services and scientific research; Maritime Security; Renewable energy.
