Abstract
This Resolution aims to define the powers, composition and modus operandi of the Interministerial Council for Climate Action (CIAC). The CIAC, chaired by the Prime Minister, is an inter-ministerial decision-making and coordination body for climate sectoral policies with an impact on national climate change objectives.
In particular, the CIAC is responsible for: a) Establishing guidelines and strategies to coordinate the implementation of the country's public actions and policies in relation to climate change; b) Deciding on matters related to the country's climate commitments; c) Develop national policies related to mitigating climate change and adapting to its impacts; d) Set the specific guidelines for implementing the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and other public policies on climate; e) Coordinate efforts between different ministries and government entities to ensure an integrated and effective approach to climate issues; f) Facilitate the participation of civil society, the private sector and local communities in climate actions, promoting transparency and accountability; g) Coordinate the allocation of financial resources for the implementation of climate actions; h) Monitor and guide the implementation of public actions and policies relating to climate action and sustainable development; i) Monitor the government's commitments and progress on the NDC, with a view to ensuring that national commitments are consistent with the country's capacities and needs; j) Ensure the coordinated implementation of activities to reduce the impacts of climate change and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by incorporating climate change aspects into the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development (PEDS); etc.
