Abstract
This Act, which is composed of 14 articles, establishes The Central Register of due diligence systems in order to control the marketing of illegally harvested timber and timber products, provides the scope and authority of government authorities in the field of placing timber and timber products on the market, and sanctions for administrative offenses concerning placing timber and timber products on the market. The Central Register contains information: (a) provided by operators of their due diligence systems for the purpose of carrying out checks; (b) provided by the state government to implement directly applicable legislation of the European Union, laying down the obligations of operators who place timber and timber products on the market; (c) serving an overall assessment of the implementation of the directly applicable European Union, laying down the obligations of operators who place timber and timber products on the market; (d) used to plan control of operators on the basis of risk analysis; (e) used to plan control of inspection organizations; (f) used for comprehensive risk assessment and evaluation of illegally harvested timber or timber products derived from such timber, including records of checks.
