Abstract
The National Antibiotic Programme Action Plan for 2011–2013 addresses the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance in the Czech Republic, which poses significant risks to public health and healthcare sustainability. It is composed of three sections: (1) Introduction; (2) Priority Areas of the Action Plan; (3) Detailed Subsections for Each Priority.
The plan outlines eleven priority areas, including surveillance of antibiotic resistance and consumption in human and veterinary medicine, development of guidelines for antibiotic use, and implementation of hospital antibiotic stewardship programs. It emphasizes rational prescription practices, public awareness campaigns, and education of healthcare professionals. The plan also calls for innovation in antibiotic centers, improved infection control measures, and integration of national and local surveillance systems with European networks. Implementation strategies include establishing IT systems for data exchange, securing funding, and fostering interdisciplinary cooperation. The document aligns with EU recommendations and aims to reduce inappropriate antibiotic use, prevent the spread of resistant microorganisms, and ensure effective treatment options through coordinated national efforts.
