Abstract
The aim of the Federal Government’s Strategy for strengthening resilience to disasters is to make Germany more able to withstand crises on a lasting basis. This Strategy highlights the efforts that are already being made in regard to prevention and better management of disasters and points out where there is a need for comprehensive action in five specific action areas: (1) Understanding disaster risk; (2) Strengthening disaster risk governance to manage disaster risk; (3) Investing in disaster risk reduction for resilience; (4) Enhancing disaster preparedness for effective response and to ‘Build Back Better’ in recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction; and (5) International cooperation.
