Abstract
The present Ordinance lays down provisions relating to the granting of nuclear safety and radiation. Nuclear safety and radiation protection shall ensure, inter alia, the following objectives:1) Protection of life and human health and genetic aspects in future generations against harmful effects of ionizing radiation; 2) protection of the environment against radioactive contamination, particularly by responsible and safe handling and storage of radioactive waste; 3) protection of workers in nuclear installations and other citizens in the area. The text – consisting of 35 articles – deals with the following aspects: sphere of application and objectives, responsiblity, state control and industry control, granting of radiation protection, granting of nuclear safety, ensuring protection against improper use of nuclear energy, special events, vocational training, research and development, penalties and final provisions. One Annex is enclosed.
