Abstract
The present Ordinance implements the Ordinance on the variety register relating to the Seeds Marketing Act in its consolidated version of 27 October 2004 (BGBl. I p. 2696). The regulation excludes grapevines, ornamental plant species, and fruit tree species. The Ordinance main goal is to promote the use and conservation of traditional and regional plant varieties by establishing standards for their registration and sale in the market, ensuring quality control and traceability of the plant material. The text – consisting of 9 articles - deals with the following matters: sphere of application, premises for the authorization of protected species, application for authorization, requirements of seeds, limitation of marketing and marking of seeds.
