Abstract
The purpose of the present Law is to implement and complete the Federal Soil Protection Act of 17 March 1998 (BGBl. I p. 502). The text provides for duties and orders of authorities for implementation of the Federal law, establishment of soil protection areas, permanent monitoring areas, soil sample bank, and compensation for measures and investigations. The text consists of 17 articles divided into 4 Parts as follows: General provisions (I); Soil protection areas (II); Information on soil, census and monitoring (III); Provisions on compensation payments, costs, competent authorities, penalties (IV).
