Abstract
The purpose of the present Law is to implement the Directive 2001/42/EC of 27 June 2001of the European Parliament and of the Council on the assessment of the effects of certain plans and programmes on the environment. In particular, the Law enacts the Federal Soil Protection Act of 7 March 1998 (BGBl. I p. 502). Article 1 establishes that land in general shall be used sparingly, and in particular sealing of the soil surface shall be limited to a minimum. The text consists of 26 articles divided into 6 Parts as follows: General provisions (1); Specific soil protection (2); Information on soil and contaminated sites and data protection (3); Compensation, indemnification and refund claims, costs (4); Authorities, technical supervision, competence (5); Final provisions (6).
