Abstract
This Policy is based on the SDG goals at national and international levels. The sustainable food policy requires protection of the environmental resources and promotion of social and economic balance along with the entire food chain. The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), is committed to the production and availability of healthy and diverse food in Germany for current and for the future generations.The text further refers to the impact of agriculture and forestry on nature and the environment, importance of development of rural areas with focus on young generation and jobs opportunity, and international duties of BMEL to develop measures to ensure food security. The text lays out provision for the role of digitalisation and innovation in use of natural resources and for reaching new solutions with regard to nutrition, agriculture, animal welfare and rural areas. The text is drafted in 5 Sections.
