Abstract
The Law establishes a framework for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of public spaces in Berlin, outlining the responsibilities of both the government and citizens in preserving the city's cleanliness and orderliness. The law mandates that public streets and drainage openings must be cleaned in accordance with public safety and order requirements. Additionally, the law specifies that the Berlin City Cleaning Company (BSR) is responsible for winter maintenance in designated pedestrian zones and public squares, while property owners are responsible for cleaning the sidewalks in front of their properties. The law also empowers the relevant Senate department to issue administrative regulations for the implementation of the law. Furthermore, the law addresses the obligation of the Berlin City Cleaning Company (BSR) to clean public green spaces, recreational areas, and state-owned forest areas to maintain cleanliness.
