Abstract
The purpose of the present Ordinance is to transpose into German law the Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a framework for Community action in the field of water policy of 23 October 2000 and the Council Directive 76/464/EEC on pollution caused by certain dangerous substances discharged into the aquatic environment of the Community of 4 May 1976. In particular, the Ordinance applies to 1) description, categorization, differentiation and classification of water bodies; 2) compilation and assessment of impact on waters; 3) monitoring of waters; 4) Classification and representation of waters status as well as 5) economic analysis of water use, effects on the status of waters. The text consists of 15 articles divided into 5 Parts as follows: General provisions (1); Surface waters (2); Groundwater (3); Economic analysis (4); Transitional and final provisions (5). Thirteen Annexes are enclosed.
