Abstract
The present Act lays down rules concerning equal treatment of men and women in employment and related matters. "Equal treatment" shall be understood to mean no discrimination on the basis of gender. This applies to both direct discrimination and indirect discrimination, especially with reference to pregnancy or marital or family status. The Act contains 21 Articles organized in the following chapters: 1. Scope of application; 2. Equal treatment of men and women; 3. Pregnancy, maternity leave, and adoption; 4. Invalidity and other related matters; 5. Exemption; 6. Compensation, assessment of evidence, etc.; 7. Miscellaneous provisions; 8. Penalties; and 9. Entry into force.
