Abstract
Through this Act, the Minister of Agriculture may regulate the production and sale of seeds, potatoes and live plants. These regulations include: registration of production and sales, testing, authorization of naming a variety of agricultural and horticultural plant species, establishing an official list of recognized and approved plants, international trade, monitoring compliance with provisions set out after inspection and analysis of plants, administrative fees on costs incurred. The Act adheres to EU regulations.
These activities include: 1. Registration of production and sales companies; 2. Testing, approval and naming of varieties of agricultural and horticultural plant species and the establishment of official lists of approved varieties; 3. Approval and testing of propagating material of forest tree species, and establishinng an official list of approved material; 4. Filing and approval for sale on the basis of origin, use, health, quality, treatment, etc.; 5. Import and export; 6. Packaging and labeling; 7. Records of inventory and sales; 8. Monitoring compliance with the provisions and the publication of inspection and analysis results together with official variety testing results; 9. Fees to cover the costs of testing, approval, monitoring and administration.
