Abstract
An Act to make provisions for a wide range of matters relating to public and private watercourses in Denmark.
The Act consists of 89 sections which are divided into 17 Chapters: Scope of the Act (1); provisions relative to common use of watercourses (2); Watercourse authorities (3); Classification of watercourses and waterworks (4); Regulations for public watercourses (5); Adjustment of watercourses and construction of new watercourses (6); maintenance of watercourses (7); Restoration of watercourses (8); Pumping installations and dikes for drainage (9); bridges, flood prevention- and other waterworks (10); supervision and control (11); Miscellaneous provisions (12); Expropriation and compensation (13); Settlement of other questions of an economic nature (14); decisions in watercourse questions (15); Appeal (16); Penal provisions and entry into force (17).
This Act aims at safeguarding in any event of the use of watercourses for the purposes of discharge of water, and especially for the flow of surface water, sewage water, and drainage water. Chapter 4 classifies watercourses as private and public and subdivides public waters in county waters and municipal waters.
