Order No. 261 on the geological storage of less than 100 kt of CO₂ for the purposes of research, development or testing of new products and processes.

This Executive Order regulates experimental geological storage of less than 100 kt of CO₂ for research, development or the testing of new products and processes within Danish territorial waters, the continental shelf and the exclusive economic zone. It authorises the Danish Energy Agency to grant permits for up to two years and sets requirements for applications, including proof of technical and financial capacity, project and monitoring plans, geological characterisation, injection limits, insurance or financial security, corrective measures and closure arrangements. Permits may include conditions on environmental protection, safety, monitoring, reporting, operation, closure and transfer of responsibility, and may be reviewed, amended or withdrawn in the event of leakage or significant irregularities.
