Abstract
This Order lays down rules prohibiting eel fishing in saltwater in Denmark. It establishes seasonal closures for commercial eel fishing in ICES Subareas 3 and 4 during specified periods in 2025–2026, requires any eels caught during those periods to be immediately released, and restricts the possession and landing of eels caught in saltwater. The Order also imposes a complete prohibition on recreational eel fishing (including both angling and leisure fishing) in saltwater at all life stages, requiring any accidentally caught eels to be released immediately. Violations are punishable by fines, including for legal entities.
