Order No. 524 on the entry into force for Greenland of the Act on Animal Diseases and Infections.
Country
Abstract
This Order, issued by the Danish Government, extends the 1999 Act on Animal Diseases and Infections to Greenland. Its purpose is to protect animal health by establishing measures for prevention, surveillance, control, and eradication of livestock diseases, including aquaculture species. It regulates disease reporting, veterinary investigations, prevention and control measures, restrictions on animal movement, import/export rules, and management of animal products, waste, feed, and veterinary medicines. It also provides for registration systems, veterinary oversight, compensation in cases of compulsory culling, and penalties for non-compliance. The ordinance specifies lists of notifiable and controllable animal diseases, aligning Greenland with Danish and EU veterinary health standards, and replaces earlier legislation on animal diseases in Greenland.
