Abstract
This Order regulates the authorisation of veterinary nurses and the tasks they may perform in veterinary practice. It provides that the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration may authorise veterinary nurses who have completed an approved Danish veterinary-nurse vocational education or an equivalent qualification, with authorisation granted for treatment of either companion animals or horses, subject to specific additional requirements for the horse specialisation, including a medicine-handling course for production animals. It sets application procedures, documentation requirements, processing deadlines, duties to inform clients, recognition of professional qualifications from EU/EEA countries and other covered states, and rules for temporary or occasional cross-border service provision. The Order also defines which treatments authorised veterinary nurses may perform on companion animals and horses under a veterinarian’s instructions and responsibility. It further requires veterinary nurses to act with care and conscientiousness, allows authorisation to be revoked, and provides penalties for breaches.
