Abstract
This Order regulates fishing with trawl and seine gear in Danish fishing territory within three nautical miles from the low-water line. It sets technical requirements for trawl gear, including vessel identification on trawl doors, a minimum mesh size of 90 mm for bottom trawling within three nautical miles, and a maximum trawl-door weight of 160 kg, with an exemption for sandeel fishing. It generally prohibits trawl and seine fishing within three nautical miles from the coast and throughout the Limfjord, but provides specified exceptions for certain vessels, gears, areas, periods and target fisheries. The Order also establishes detailed prohibitions or conditions for bottom trawling, pelagic trawling and Danish seine fishing in a large number of named coastal areas, fjords, bays and sounds, with the annexes defining the restricted areas by coordinates and maps. It includes rules on stowage of prohibited gear, special conditions for permitted bottom trawl, pelagic trawl and seine fishing, and penalties for violations.
