Abstract
This Regulation sets out crew requirements for small commercial vessels and Greenlandic fishing vessels carrying up to twelve passengers on domestic routes in Denmark and along Greenland’s coasts. It defines the minimum crew size and qualification standards based on vessel size and engine power, requiring at least two crew members for vessels with a dimension number of 20 or more, and one for smaller vessels or those used for training. The skipper must hold appropriate maritime certificates, radio and first aid qualifications, and be medically fit, while additional crew must be trained in safety and firefighting. The regulation also details conditions for vessels used for professional sailing instruction, outlines penalties for non-compliance, and repeals the previous regulation.
The Regulation updates and replaces the 2012 version by clarifying its scope, strengthening crew qualification and safety training requirements, and aligning with newer maritime and Greenlandic rules. It introduces clearer pathways for certification, modernized first aid and safety standards, updated provisions for engine power and onboard training, and grants Greenland greater regulatory flexibility.
