Abstract
This Regulation sets rules on the provision of veterinarian procurement, storage, use, dispensing and prescribing of drugs and medicine for animals. It also gives guidelines on authorized medicinal products for animals, non-authorized substances and the prohibition and restriction of the use of certain hormones. When treating livestock, authorized drugs must adhere to EU regulations.
The Regulation consists of 14 Chapters and 3 Appendices: Scope and definitions (1); Authorized veterinary medicinal products (2); Prohibition and restriction of the use of certain hormones (3); Animal medicines reserved for veterinary use (4); Administration of drugs for animals (5); Use, dispensing and prescribing prescription drugs (6); Use, dispensing and prescribing of antiparasitic drugs (7); Preventive treatment (8); Regulated administration of prescription drugs (9); Treatment of horses with drugs for which there is a maximum level (10); Retention periods (11); Veterinary records, authorization and reporting to Vetstat (12); Procuring veterinary surgeons, storage, use, dispensing and prescribing of prescription drugs for animals (13); Penalties and entry into force (14).
