Abstract
The 20 sections of this Act are divided into six Parts, i.e.: Preliminary (I); Forest Reserve and Protected Forest (II); Powers of the Director (III); Power to make Rules (IV); Powers of Forest Officers (V); General (VI).
State lands may be declared forest reserves, private lands may be protected forest by the President under section 3 respectively 4. Rules may be made in respect of protected forests under section 5. Also the owner of a private forest may request supervision or management of the forest by the Director of Forestry and wildlife under section 9. The powers of the Director are outlined in section 10 to12. He shall issue licences, dispose of forest produce by auction and tender exclusive rights to take timber from any forest reserve or from any land on which the Government has any right to timber or other forest produce.
