Abstract
This document outlines an agreement on environmental cooperation between the governments of Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania, signed in Dagda on June 4, 2010. The agreement aims to develop and extend mutual cooperation in environmental protection and pollution prevention, addressing both regional and global environmental issues. It covers various sectors including sustainable resource use, pollution reduction, Baltic Sea protection, climate change, waste management, and water protection. The parties agree to collaborate through information exchange, joint programs, expert meetings, and coordinated actions. The agreement establishes the Environmental Committee of the Baltic Council of Ministers as the coordinating body. It provides for regular information sharing on environmental states and emergencies with potential transboundary impacts. The agreement is open-ended, can be amended by mutual consent, and may be supplemented by special agreements. It replaces a previous 1995 agreement on environmental protection cooperation between the three countries.
