Law of Ship Flag and Ship Registers Act (1998)

This Act regulates use of ship flag and ship registers. Among others, it provides that permanent unique external registration numbers shall be assigned to fishing vessels. The instructions for formation of external registration numbers of fishing vessels and for marking external registration numbers on vessels shall be established by the minister responsible for the area. The Act further provides for flying national flag of Estonia; certificates of nationality; number of fishing vessel; flying national flag of other state; granting right to fly national flag of Estonia; identification of ship; ship registry; and register of bareboat chartered ships.
