Abstract
This Regulation, made on the basis of clause 4 of subsection 8 (2) of the Public Health Act, establishes requirements for the catering of children and students of pre-school age, and for the energy and nutrient content of food provided to children in childcare institutions. This Regulation applies to the premises and equipment intended for catering for children in a childcare institution, their cleaning and conditions of use. The Regulation defines the following relevant terms: catering; dining room; hot food; ready-to-eat food; main meal; canned food; school lunch; basic nutrients. Matters covered by this Regulation concern: general requirements for the organisation of catering and food in preschool institutions, including access to a sufficient amount of drinking water; general requirements for the organisation of catering and food at school; detailed requirements for menu preparation and food excluded from the diet of children under school age, including: use of milk, fish products, meat and poultry products; general requirements for documentation and presentation of food composition and nutritional information; hygiene and safety requirements of dining rooms.
